Centers
Math and Literacy Centers are usually expected to be fun, engaging, interactive, and yet still completely student-led. It can be tough to find an activity that meets these expectations. Crafts integrate academics with creativity and often encourage students to keep working and complete a whole project independently. It's a solid way to integrate academics without having a task too challenging that students will need adult guidance.
Bulletin Board
This was always a task I loved as a teacher, and yet it seemed like every time I finished a bulletin board, it was time to put up new material! Crafts are a great way to save time with posting those new boards. Your students will have an academic-based, engaging, and attractive project after just a day or two of work.
Must Do, May Do
Giving students options is ideal for having a student-centered classroom. They are way more motivated to complete that "Must-do" list when the "May-do" list looks super fun and involves creativity!
Holiday
I remember when I was a kid those class parties involved a few snacks, games, and maybe that TV rolling cart if we were lucky. The academic expectations when I became a teacher were a bit higher during holiday seasons. Involving a holiday-themed craft in your party or celebration is an excellent way to weave in your academics with some celebration time in your classroom.

Just for Fun!
Whether you do "Fun Friday" or you just need a break from all the test-prep, crafts are a great option. Something hands-on and will get students talking and sharing creativity is exactly what keeps them engaged and motivated.
